The government has appointed 2273 persons as Management Service Assistants to serve in the government offices. These new appointees will be posted to serve in Government Department in all the 25 districts.
The appointment letters were delivered to them at a function at Temple Trees under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Addressing the new appointees the President said that government servants should be the pioneers in the march towards making Sri Lanka a wonder nation of Asia. He said that this government has made a mammoth service to strengthen the government service which was planned to be made ineffective and thereby dissolve it by the previous government. He pointed out that everyone in the country live healthily from the money of the people and the government servants should keep in mind that when a file comes for action to their table it relates to a requirement of the people.
These appointments have been made based on the results of the written examination held last year, and the interviews subsequently. However, due to the floods and landslide related disaster situatios, some of those shortlisted could not attend the interviews. .
Altogether 3,300 persons are to be appointed as Management Assistants. The remaining number of persons shortlisted for interviews belongs to the areas affected by floods and landslides and interviews for them will be held shortly in order to fill the other vacandies.
The Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs W.D.J. Senevirathne, Deputy Ministers Wijaya Dahanayaka and Navin Dissanayake and several others participated at the function.
