Indian Cricket Board has announced that it has started talks with Sri Lanka Cricket authorities to sort out the issue with regard to the call by Sri Lankan Sports Minister to all players currently playing IPL twenty 20 tournament to return to the country before May 5.
The cream of Sri Lankan Cricket players are currently participating in the Indian Premier League. They are Kumara Sangakkara, Mahela Jayewardene, Tillekaratne Dilshan, Lasith Malinga, Tissera Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dilhara Fernando and the retired off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.The IPL tournament began on April 8 is set to conclude on May 28. In the meantime the Sri Lankan team is scheduled to leave for England on May 14. Minister of Sports Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage has stressed on the importance of putting the country before self and has given the players an ultimatum to return to the country before May 5.
The Indian cricket board said it is trying to sort out the issue with the Sri Lankan board (SLC). "We are in talks with the Lankan board and we hope to find a solution to this crisis soon," a top BCCI official told TOI on Wednesday.
According to IPL rules, if a player misses a series of games, he won't be entitled to get paid for those matches.
