At least twenty children have died during the past twenty days of military confrontations in the Libyan city of Misrata, according to a source of the United Nation’s Children Fund.
The United Nations agency denounced that the minors, including several babies, died when they were impacted by fragmentation grenades or bullets, and it warned that tens of thousands of children are under the threat of dying of hunger, thirst, diseases.
News from Tripoli affirmed that armed Libyan opposition forces are
debating this Monday the Organization of African Unity plan for the
immediate cease fire, that Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi has
already accepted.
A day earlier, Gaddafi gave his approval to the road map presented by
the African regional organization, which includes the sending of
humanitarian aid to the civilian population and the establishing of a
dialogue between the Libyan government and the insurgents.
