Centenary of Sri Lanka’s Scouts Movement will be held in 2012.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the 8th National Scouts Jamboree has emphasised the need to create a disciplined and skilled younger generation for a prosperous future. Speaking further at this function which was held in Angunukolapelessa in Hambantota, the President has said that the Scout movement renders an invaluable service to the society, and the younger generation should be trained to commit themselves from their childhood itself for the betterment of the nation.  He expressed confidence that the scouts will act in commitment and dedication to render an honest service to the nation. Speaking at the occasion Commissioner of Scouts Sri Batuwandala said an international scouts Jamboree will be held in Sri Lanka in 2012 to mark the 100th anniversary of scout movement of the country. Around 15 thousand scouts representing all provinces participates in the Angunukolapelessa Jamboree, which will be held till 30th of this month.
