Ministry of Power and Electricity refutes newspaper reports

The Ministry of Power and Electricity has refuted several recent newspaper reports about its failure to supply electricity to several villages and areas, and clarifies action being taken in respect of these villages and areas.
In respect of a report about lack of electricity for 7 areas in the Laggala area the Ministry informs that action has been taken to supply electricity through transformers, with the assistance of the Government of Iran,

As regards a report relating to “Alotuwawatta settlers in Galagedera” suffering from shortcomings, the Ministry informs that estimates have already been prepared to supply electricity to this village at a cost of Rs. 3,836,280 and this project will also be implemented with assistance from the Government of Iran.

Referring to another report about lack of electricity to Galewewa, Walaswewa and Kapuhena areas the Ministry says steps have been taken to supply electricity to these villages with assistance from Iran.
