UPFA heading towards landslide victory in mini poll

UNP WINS  FOUR URBAN COUNCILS AND ONE MC ONLY

Local Government Election results so far released show the people have reconfirmed their confidence in the Government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.  The results of 100 Local bodies have been released up to now from which the UPFA has won 82 bodies while ITAK and the UNP have won 4 and 5 respectively.

The main Opposition United National Party has not been able to secure the victory of any of the Pradeshiya Sabhas. It has won the Kuliyapitiya UC, Gampola UC Bandarawela MC Kadugannawa UC and Kalutara UC only

SLMC has won two local government bodies in the eastern Irakkamam and Ninthavoor PS while the Up Country People’s Front has won the Nuwara Eliya PS.

The Maxisits Janatha VImukthi Peramuna as stated by the ruling party politicians has been fully rejected by the voters as it has not been able to restore its lost rural base.
