UPFA leads with 55.35 percent votes in 162 councils

The Commissioner of Elections has so far released the results of 162 LG bodies. Ruling UPFA is in the lead with 55.35 percent of the votes cast for those councils. According to latest statistics the UPFA has polled 2141771 votes (55.35 percent).

The ruling UNP has obtained so far is 1309978 33.86 percent. The JVP which has lost its only stronghold the Tissamaharama PS in the Hambantota district has been reduced to 122064 (3.15 percent) and other smaller parties and Independent groups contested for few Pradeshiya Sabhas have got 295356 (7.63 percent)
