President Mahinda Rajapaksa Tuesday issued directives to authorities to remove taxes on LPgas in order to keep the gas prices from increasing, Trade and Cooperatives Minister Johnston Fernando said.
President had asked the Trade Minister not to burden the consumers by allowing the companies to increase the gas prices in spite of the
price hike in the world market. Instead the President instructed the authorities to remove the tax levied on Gas cylinders. At present Rs

Ministry sources said that, although the Laugfs Gas had asked the Trade Ministry for permission to increase the price of a domestic gas
cylinder by Rs. 235, prices would remain unchanged until February.
