All schools to be closed from 16- 18

All schools in Colombo and outstations except that are in Jaffna andKilinochchi districts will be closed on March 16, 17 and 18 due toLocal Government elections.
Earlier the Educational Authorities had informed that only the schools in the areas where the elections are held will be closed.
Now the Secretary to the Ministry of Education informs that all schools inclusive of Colombo schools where there is no election will be closed for three days from tomorrow the 16th up to March 18.
Local Govt Election will be held on March 17 and as usual schools will be used as polling booths and the counting centres.
Since there are no elections in Jaffna and Kilinochchi districts, those schools will not be closed.
